Brazil School Project
A few months ago during my missions trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Dr. Filipe Guimaraes, pastor of Agentceus Church, took me on a tour of the city. I learned about and saw firsthand many areas that were hit hard by Brazil's economic struggles. Many businesses closed and buildings with for sale signs on them.
The unemployment rate in Brazil has been on the rise since April 2015, and is at its highest point in the last 4 years.
One of the skills that gives Brazilians an advantage in job searching is the ability to speak English. Dr. Guimaraes has a heart to teach the Bible and English to a poor community outside of Sao Paulo. By teaching them English, they are learning a vital skill that makes them more marketable for potential jobs and help them to earn income. And by learning the Bible, they will receive God's love and the spiritual strength they need as well.
Living in the US we have a great opportunity to impact people’s lives because the dollar is several times stronger (currently 4x) than the Brazilian Reis. For just $150 USD per month, the school can employ two English teachers and provide free English classes for up to 30 students! Consider making a monthly or one time donation toward supporting this school project! Add special instructions "Brazil School Project" to your online gift or personal check note. Blessed is he who considers the poor! |
